NORDPOLARIS was founded in 2014 by Fabian Halbig (IMDb / cu) and Florian Kamhuber (IMDb / cu) while still studying at the HFF Munich. During their time at university, the company produced more than 20 fictional and documentary short and feature-length films, which were shown at numerous international festivals and commercially distributed. These include the tragic comedy DINKY SINKY (Fipresci and “Förderpreis Neues Deutsches Kino”), the 90-minute one-shot thriller LIMBO, which was awarded the IMAGO Award and the VGF Young Producer’ Prize in 2019, as well as SORRY, COMRADE, which celebrated its premiere at the Berlin Int. Film Festival 2022.

The young company develops and produces films and series for a broad audience.

Since 2020, NORDPOLARIS also acts as an independent film distributor with focus on event programming and alternative content. Projects to date include the event documentary IMMER NOCH JUNG, live cinema broadcasts of the SALZBURGER FESTSPIELE and, in September 2021, the first nationwide live premiere of an Amazon Prime Original format “LOL: LAST ONE LAUGHING IM KINO” (#2 on the GER box office chart).

Fabian Halbig

FABIAN HALBIG (*1992) studied “Production and Media Business” at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) from 2012 to 2017, where he co-founded NORDPOLARIS with Florian Kamhuber and produced various award-winning short and feature films. During his studies he was a scholarship holder of the VFF, the Studienstiftung des Dt. Volkes as well as the Max Weber Program. In the meantime he worked for Koryphäen Film in the areas of production (among others “For Your Own Good”) and distribution (“The Most Beautiful Couple”). During the corona pandemic, he was co-responsible for the Popup Drive In Cinema Munich.

At NORDPOLARIS he is responsible for production and distribution.

Florian Kamhuber

FLORIAN KAMHUBER (*1990) completed his studies in production and media economics at the University of Television and Film Munich. He was a scholar of the VFF and the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. Together with Fabian Halbig, he founded NORDPOLARIS while still at film school and produced several award-winning films (including “Dinky Sinky” and “Immer Noch Jung”). He worked for Leo Kirch, Jan Mojto, Roger Corman, and Roland Emmerich. From 2016 to 2021 he also produced series projects for the film production company Neuesuper, such as “Hindafing” (BR/Netflix), “Echoes” (joyn) and “8 Days” (Sky).

Melissa Byrne

MELISSA BYRNE studied production and media economics at the University of Television and Film Munich, holding scholarships from VFF and Cusanuswerk. During her studies, she produced film projects that were awarded the Golden Lola at the German Short Film Award, the Starter Film Award and the Palm Springs Int. Shortfest, among others. Her graduation feature film “Life is not a competition, but I’m winning” has been invited to the Venice Film Festival 2023. She also worked as a writers’ assistant at VIAFILM and then as a writer for film production companies such as Claussen+Putz, Tobis Film and Hager Moss. In October 2021 she started working as a producer for NORDPOLARIS.

Daniela Ebeling

DANIELA EBELING (*1991). After her studies for Business Administration (2011-2015) and a semester abroad at the Cal. State East Bay (USA) she studied „Production and Media Business“ at the HFF Munich from 2015 to 2020. While she studied, she produced the award-winning film „Schlaf gut, du auch!“ for NORDPOLARIS. Before and during film school she worked as production coordinator and manager for several projects (including Fack ju Göhte 2 & 3, Germany’s next Topmodel, Tatort, Tarantella, The Turncoat). 2018 – 2019 she worked as Junior Producer for filmschaft maas & füllmich before she started to work at Beta Film for three years. Starting out as Producer & Development for Moritz v. Kruedener, she continued work as Content Editor for Koby Gal-Raday. In 2022, she was drawn back to production and worked as a producer for NEUESUPER for six months until she became a producer for NORDPOLARIS in October 2022.October 2022.

Felix Hultsch

FELIX HULTSCH (*1989) studied at the University of Television and Film Munich from 2014 to 2019.
After producing several award-winning short films and the TV documentary “Libyens schwerer Neuanfang” (BR/arte), he graduated with the Student Oscar for the film production “Adisa”, shot in Kenya. After film school he worked as a junior producer for the feature film “Hilfe, ich habe meine Freunde geschrumpft” (blue eyes Fiction) before becoming production manager for the TV series “Fett und Fett” (Trimafilm) and the theatrical feature films “Jupiter” (Dreifilm) and “Wow! Nachricht aus dem All” (SamFilm). He has been working for NORDPOLARIS since December 2022.
